Soi Sim Islet is a small soil island in the southwest of Halong Bay. It’s about 12 kilometers far from Bai Chay tourist wharf and about 700 meters from Ti Top Island.

Explaining for the name “Soi Sim”, the locals said that in the past, the major plant on the island was Rhodomyrtus tomentosa (called “sim” in Vietnamese). Therefore, the island was named after that plant, “Soi Sim”. Halong bay tours

Soi Sim Islet has an area of 8.7 ha. On the island, there are two 200-meter hills covered by a green primeval forest. This primeval forest is home to many species of flora, especially endemic plants. This is the result of thousands of years isolated from the mainland.

Coming to Soi Sim Islet, tourists will be impressed by peaceful ambiance and natural beauty of green primeval forest and blue sea. There are two charming beaches on the island with white sand and clear seawater. These are the preferred beaches of tourists on the holiday on Halong Bay. Ngoc Vung Island (Luminescent Pearl Island) is located in Van Don District, Quang Ninh Province. It’s about 34 kilometers far from Bai Chay Tourist Wharf.

According to an old story told by the locals, Ngoc Vung Island used to be the residence of a rare species of pearl oyster. The number of pearl oyster is too much that the coast was brightened by the light of pearls. Therefore, the inhabitants named it as “Ngoc Vung” Island (Luminescent Pearl Island).

Ngoc Vung Island is in the shape of crescent and has an area of around 40 square kilometers. On the island is Van Xuan Mountain with the height of 182 meters and a 2-kilometer beach with pure white sand. Ngoc Vung Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches on Halong Bay. The local residents on Ngoc Vung Island live on fishing and pearl farming. Therefore, there are many fishing boats and floating pearl farms near the island.

Cong Do Island covers an area of 23.36 square kilometers. The island features with a 172-meter hill which is covered by an ever-green tropical forest. Moreover, the lagoons around Cong Do Island are also home to various species such as shrimp, crab, fish, squid and aquatic plants. Particularly, at the southwestern coast of the island, there is a pristine coral reef with the size of 700 meters long and 300 meters wide. The coral reef involves many rare species of coral (like red coral). This is also the habitation of seahorses and many kinds of fish. The coral reef is preserved in good condition.
